North Korea and Spain to face off in Women's U-20 World Cup final
North Korea and Spain will face each other in the final of the FIFA Women's U-20 World Cup in Poland. North Korea secured their place in the final after a 3-0 victory over Colombia in the semifinals, with goals from Pak Ok-I, Choe Rim-jong, and So Ryu-gyong. The North Korean side enters the final as the defending champions and has not conceded a single goal throughout the tournament.
Spain reached the final by defeating Italy 2-0 in their semifinal match. Spain is noted as the tournament's highest-scoring team, led by Pau Comendador, who is currently the top scorer. The final serves as a rematch of the U-17 World Cup final held two years ago, which North Korea won on penalties.
Colombia and Italy will compete for the bronze medal in a third-place playoff scheduled for Saturday, September 26. The match will take place at the Miejski ŁKS stadium in Łódź. A Brazilian officiating trio, including head referee Charly Deretti and assistants Anne Kesy and Fernanda Nandrea, has been appointed to officiate the final.
