North Macedonia allocates 90% of Ohrid Agreement funds to Serbian groups, Albanian community protests
The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) claims that roughly 90% of the funding from the program implementing the Ohrid Framework Agreement has been awarded to organisations representing the Serbian community in North Macedonia. The party alleges the government is using the agreement to finance political and ideological priorities of the Serbian side while Albanian representation is being eroded – language rights are being withdrawn, Albanians are removed from leadership positions and replaced in the state administration.
DUI demanded the full list of beneficiaries, the amounts allocated to each project, the composition of the evaluation commission and the minutes of the decision‑making process. A separate commentary from VREDI echoed the accusations, stating that Albanians are being denied lasting influence over the agreement and that the law on fair representation is being blocked. The controversy centres on the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, a cornerstone of inter‑ethnic power‑sharing in the country.
