North Macedonia announces public administration leadership reforms
North Macedonia's Minister of Public Administration, Goran Minchev, has announced reforms aimed at developing a new generation of professional leaders within the public sector. During an official visit to Rome, Minchev addressed over 100 officials at the National School of Administration (SNA) in Italy to discuss professional development models.
A central component of the reform is the establishment of an Academy for Professional Development and Training. The goal is for this Academy to serve as a continuous platform for leadership, experience exchange, and competency building required by modern European public administrations.
Additionally, Minchev noted that the Law on High-Level Officials, passed earlier this year, is scheduled for implementation starting in October 2026. This legislation aims to strengthen professionalism, meritocracy, and accountability in the selection and appointment of high-ranking officials in public institutions. The visit to Italy also included the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Macedonian Ministry of Public Administration and Italian authorities.
