North Macedonia battles seven active wildfires

Seven outdoor wildfires remain active across North Macedonia as of the morning of August 31, 2026, according to the Crisis Management Center. A total of 24 fires were registered between August 30 and August 31.

Active fires are reported in several municipalities, including Resen, where pine forests and low vegetation are burning between Bela Crkva and Podmočani; Saraj, involving low-stemmed forest and vegetation between Kopanica and Raduša; and Zelenikovo, near the village of Paligrad. Other active sites include Čaška (Nežilovo), Bogovinje (Urvič), Vrapčište (Gradec), and Makedonski Brod (Dragov Dol).

One fire spreading from Trnovo toward Bitovo, Zagrad, and Strajane in the Makedonski Brod municipality has been placed under control. Additionally, 16 fires have been fully extinguished in various locations, including Ilinden, Gjorče Petrov, Prilep, Dolneni, Resen, Bogdanci, Struga, Delčevo, Staro Nagoričane, Jegunovce, Tetovo, Brvenica, Vrapčište, and Mavrovo-Rostuše.
