North Macedonia competition commission inspects 30 agricultural buying centers

The Commission for Decision on Infringements within the Commission for Protection of Competition has conducted inspections at over 30 buying centers involved in the purchase of agricultural and horticultural products. The inspections specifically targeted the procurement of peppers and apples.

Operating in the municipalities of Gevgelija, Strumica, Krivogaštani, and Resen, the Commission gathered data and documentation through direct observation. The goal was to investigate how purchase prices are formed, the conditions of procurement, and the methods used by centers to establish and change their prices.

Preliminary analysis of the collected documentation has revealed indications of potential regulatory violations. The Commission stated it will continue a detailed analysis of the evidence to determine appropriate legal measures and emphasized its commitment to enforcing competition rules.
