Macedonian Parliament Rejects Interpellation of Interior Minister Pançe Toshkovski

Opposition parties – the left‑wing coalition “E Majta” (Levica) – submitted a parliamentary interpellation against Interior Minister Pançe Toshkovski, accusing his ministry of security failures, partisan policing and inadequate anti‑crime measures. Toshkovski responded on Facebook, calling the move a “weak political attempt” to slow anti‑crime reforms and labeling the opposition as an ally of the LSDM and BDI parties.

During the plenary session of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, 77 deputies voted on the interpellation. The measure was defeated, with 58 votes against and 19 in favour. In his reply, Toshkovski pledged to improve the ministry’s performance, saying he would do “everything possible” to address the concerns. The opposition maintained that the country remains unsafe due to the interior ministry’s shortcomings, while the governing coalition defended the minister’s record of concrete results and increased efficiency.
