North Macedonia introduces national certification for public sector internal auditors

The Ministry of Finance is introducing a national exam and certification process for internal auditors within the public sector for the first time in the country. This initiative aims to establish a national certification system to enhance professionalism and strengthen internal financial controls across public institutions.

The Ministry stated that the measure is designed to foster more responsible, transparent, and lawful operations within the public sector, serving as a mechanism to combat corruption. This step also supports the European integration process by fulfilling European Union recommendations related to Chapter 32 – Financial Control.

Preparation materials and exam questions have been published on the Ministry of Finance website. The development of these materials was supported by the European Union through the Central Unit for Harmonization.
