North Macedonia launches urban rail service between Prilep and Manastir

North Macedonia's Ministry of Transport announced that an urban railway connecting the cities of Prilep and Manastir will commence operations at the end of June or early July. Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikollovski said the line will run on a schedule convenient for commuters and tickets will be priced at a symbolic 150 denars to encourage widespread use.

In parallel with passenger service, freight traffic on the same route is expected to start shortly, providing a faster and greener alternative for goods transport while the Prilep‑Manastir highway is under construction. The project is part of a broader effort to revive the country's railway network and reduce road congestion and pollution.
