North Macedonia Ministry of Health orders investigation into nurse's pregnancy loss

The Ministry of Health in North Macedonia has requested the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate (DSZI) to conduct an inspection regarding the treatment of nurse Ljubica Chavreska. Chavreska publicly shared her testimony via Facebook, detailing the medical care she received at several health institutions during her 24th week of pregnancy, which ultimately resulted in a miscarriage.

The Ministry stated it is following the allegations with attention and sympathy. To ensure all circumstances are determined objectively, an extraordinary inspection will be carried out regarding the actions of the involved health institutions and medical personnel. Following the inspection, a commission for professional supervision will be formed to review the work of the healthcare workers involved. The Ministry noted that if any failures or omissions are identified during the inspection, it will act in accordance with existing legal regulations.
