North Macedonia pushes ahead with over 50 km of Corridor 8 and 10 highway work

The government of North Macedonia announced that construction on the motorways forming Corridors 8 and 10 has advanced on more than 50 kilometres of route. Project manager Josh Becker of the BEHTEL & ENKA consortium reported that the works have already moved over 6 million cubic metres of excavation, 2 million cubic metres of embankment and 100 000 cubic metres of concrete, supported by more than 340 local subcontractors.

Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski said the work on the Gostivar‑Bojčani section is at 60 % of its 31‑km length, with 11 km currently under construction, while the Tetovo‑Gostivar segment is about 8.4 % complete. The deadline for the whole project has been extended to December 2029 to compensate for delays under the previous administration. The state has spent €241.3 million on the project so far, with an additional €278.4 million earmarked for construction between July 2024 and May 2026, and more than 3 000 parcels have been expropriated. The ministries say the first lane of the Prilep‑Bitola section could open in the first half of next year.
