North Macedonia Receives €40 Million EU Grant for Army Modernisation

The European Union, via the European Peace Facility, approved a grant of around €40 million for the North Macedonian army. The first batch of equipment was presented at the IlinDen barracks in Skopje, alongside an additional €2 million earmarked for Balkan medical initiatives.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski, EU Ambassador Mihalis Rokas and senior army officials. Misajlovski highlighted that the funding is a direct EU grant and the first of three planned modernisation packages for the armed forces.
