North Macedonia seeks US expertise for criminal law reforms
North Macedonian Justice Minister Jeton Shasivari met with Nicole Warns, acting head of the US Embassy mission, to discuss judicial reform priorities and bilateral cooperation. The discussions focused on strengthening the rule of law and enhancing the fight against corruption and organized crime.
Shasivari emphasized the need for American expertise to assist in reforming criminal legislation, aiming to create modern legal solutions for preventing and sanctioning criminal activity. Other key topics included the digitalization of the judicial system, the legislative agenda, and institutional capacity building.
A current example of this partnership is the implementation of the National Drug Strategy project, which is funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the US Department of State.
