North Macedonia targets completion of Greece gas link by 2027

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the North Macedonian government expects the gas interconnector with Greece to be finished in the first quarter of next year, synchronising the national gas network with the Greek system. The same statements noted that an interconnector with Serbia has already been announced.

Three domestic pipeline projects are being restarted: a supply line between Veles and Shtip, a line linking Gostivar and Kičevo, and a branch near Tetovo that would extend into Kosovo, pending a decision by Kosovo authorities. A meeting between the Ministry of Energy, NOMAGAS and Greek gas transmission operator DESFA confirmed the joint commitment to meet the schedule.

The 68‑kilometre Greece‑Macedonia interconnector, valued at over 5.1 billion denars, is backed by the European Union, the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development through grants, technical assistance and soft loans.
