Macedonia's Interior Minister Panche Toskovski Remains in Office after Parliament Rejects Interpellation

The Macedonian Assembly voted 58‑19 to reject an interpellation against Interior Minister Panche Toskovski presented by the opposition Levica. Levica MPs accused Toskovski of widespread scandals, a surge in violent crime and drug trafficking—including an alleged five‑ton shipment of narcotics across the border—claiming the Ministry of Internal Affairs fails to protect citizens.

Government supporters from the ruling VMRO‑DPMNE defended the minister, citing increased police efficiency, the dismantling of dozens of organized crime groups and seizure of larger cocaine consignments. Toskovski rejected the accusations, pledged to continue improving security, and asserted he would remain in his post.

This vote marks the third interpellation against Toskovski since taking office, with earlier attempts also rejected. The decision leaves the minister in place amid ongoing political controversy over public safety and the functioning of Macedonia's interior ministry.
