North Macedonia's Prilep‑Bitola highway set for single‑lane opening in 2025

Vice‑Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski announced that construction of the Prilep‑Bitola motorway is advancing rapidly and is slated to carry traffic on a single lane by next year. The 65‑km stretch is the longest individual section being built in Macedonia and forms part of the Pan‑European Corridor 10D.

Nikoloski said the new road will reduce travel time between Skopje and Athens by three to three and a half hours, describing it as “a symbol of Pelagonia’s development.” He highlighted expected improvements in safety, regional connectivity, economic competitiveness and tourism for the Pelagonia region.
