North Mississippi drug and firearms crackdown leads to 14 arrests
A Homeland Security Task Force investigation has resulted in the arrest of 14 individuals on federal charges involving drug distribution and illegal firearms across North Mississippi. The enforcement actions, conducted in late September, were the result of three separate operations.
Two of the operations targeted drug trafficking organizations operating within the northern region of the state, while a third focused on the importation and distribution of Glock-type conversion devices used to transform pistols into illegal machine guns.
The arrests include individuals from Greenville, Tupelo, and Leland. Charges range from drug distribution and possession of a machine gun to carjacking and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Federal officials stated that the investigation remains active and is expanding across northern Mississippi, including DeSoto County.
