US law enforcement drug and firearms operations

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in the southeastern United States have conducted major operations targeting drug trafficking and illegal firearms.

In North Mississippi, a Homeland Security Task Force investigation led to the arrest of 14 individuals on federal charges. These operations targeted drug trafficking organizations and the distribution of Glock-type conversion devices used to create illegal machine guns. The investigation remains active across northern Mississippi.

In North Carolina’s Triad region, a multi-agency operation led by the ATF resulted in approximately 104 arrests. This investigation yielded the seizure of 163 firearms, over 37 kilograms of illegal drugs—including cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl—and 102 ‘switches’ used to convert semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic firearms. Authorities also utilized shell casing technology to generate 222 leads linking specific firearms to crime scenes.
