Parksville Treatment Centre fundraising campaign launched

The Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation has launched a $1.2 million fundraising campaign to complete the new Parksville Treatment Centre. This 19-bed facility will provide abstinence-based addiction treatment.

The centre is designed to offer structured, publicly funded recovery plans lasting 30, 60, or 90 days. Services will include psychiatric and primary-care support, counseling, medical assistance, and transition planning. To assist with accessibility, the facility will also provide transportation support, including an on-site accessible van.

According to the foundation, the project aims to address a significant gap in regional addiction care. Currently, individuals completing detox often face long wait times or must seek expensive private services to access long-term recovery support. The facility intends to provide a more permanent intervention to help patients successfully transition back into their communities.
