North Sulawesi Experiences Multiple Shallow Earthquakes, No Tsunami Threat

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck offshore near Karatung Island in North Sulawesi on 13 June 2026 at 09:05 WIB, with a shallow depth of 10 km. The BMKG confirmed the quake posed no tsunami risk and reported no immediate damage.

Later that night, several shallow tremors hit the Tahuna area of the Sangihe Islands, ranging from magnitude 3.1 to 4.5 and depths between 10 and 42 km. All were assessed by BMKG as non‑tsunamigenic, and no casualties or injuries were reported.
