North Sumatra Governor visits student hospitalized after suspected food poisoning

North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution visited an eleventh-grade student from SMK Negeri 1 Berastagi who is currently in intensive care at RSU Haji Medan. The student is suspected of suffering food poisoning after consuming part of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

According to Governor Nasution, this student is in more critical condition than others affected, having experienced a loss of consciousness that required a referral from Karo to Medan. The provincial government has issued an apology and committed to ensuring the patient receives full medical treatment until recovery.

Reports indicate that the incident has impacted a significant number of students, with approximately 353 individuals experiencing health complaints. Some students reported symptoms during school hours, while others felt ill later in the evening. The Governor emphasized the need to learn from this incident to prevent future occurrences of the MBG program.
