North Sumatra launches 50th PRSU fair as a regional investment showcase
Vice Governor Surya opened the 50th Pekan Raya Sumatera Utara (PRSU) in Medan on 3 July 2026, positioning the month‑long fair as a showcase for the province’s development, investment opportunities and cultural assets. The event runs for 31 days, targets about 300 000 visitors and features participation from 33 districts, 19 national artists, and a highlighted promotion of Sumatra’s coffee as a premium export.
The provincial government, PT Pembangunan Prasarana Sumatera Utara (PPSU) and the Forum Wartawan Pemprov (FWP) coordinated a media effort involving 115 journalists. Daily reporting teams, a dedicated media centre, ID cards and a rotating shift system were set up to ensure continuous, accurate coverage of exhibitions, business forums, cultural performances and sports activities throughout the fair.
Organisers expect the PRSU to generate sustained economic impact by attracting investors, boosting UMKM sales and strengthening the region’s brand domestically and abroad.
