North Sumatra's PRSU Fair Draws International Visitors
The 50th Pekan Raya Sumatera Utara (PRSU) fair opened in Medan on 3 July 2026 and runs until 2 August under the theme “Harmoni Emas”. The event features pavilions from all 33 regencies and cities of North Sumatra, showcasing regional products such as Sidikalang coffee and traditional woven textiles.
American tourists visited the Dairi and Asahan pavilions, sampling robusta and arabica coffee and local handicrafts. Malaysian participation came through a Penang pavilion, where officials Mohd Juwaidi bin Mohd Nasir and Syarmilia Chek Ani offered Penang specialties including nasi lemak, roti canai, char kue‑tiau and other street foods. The pavilion operates a direct‑serve food stall, allowing visitors to experience authentic Malaysian cuisine without leaving the fair.
Organisers reported strong attendance and growing interest from domestic and foreign visitors, highlighting the fair’s role in promoting regional culture and tourism.
