North Vancouver father fined for underage e-scooter riding

A father in North Vancouver has been issued a $109 fine after his 12-year-old son was caught operating an e-scooter on a busy road. The incident occurred on August 4 near Marine Drive and Pemberton Avenue.

B.C. Highway Patrol officers stopped the rider after observing him in heavy traffic. According to Sergeant Michael McLaughlin, children under the age of 16 are prohibited from operating electric kick scooters on public roads, bike lanes, or bike paths. The father was ticketed under the Electronic Kick Scooter Pilot Project Regulation for allowing an underage individual to operate the device.
