Northeast Brazil exports reach US$ 20.6 billion
Exports from 415 municipalities in Northeast Brazil reached US$ 20.6 billion between January and September 2026, according to data from the Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene). The export portfolio is diverse, including soybeans, corn, petroleum, minerals, chemicals, cellulose, and automobiles.
Bahia leads the region with four of the ten largest exporting municipalities. São Francisco do Conde recorded US$ 2.44 billion, primarily in minerals and petroleum, while Luís Eduardo Magalhães reached US$ 2.24 billion, driven by crushed soybeans and textiles. In Pernambuco, Goiana is a top exporter with US$ 519.7 million in sales, largely led by passenger vehicles destined for Argentina and Mexico.
To support regional growth, Sudene is exploring various financing strategies for infrastructure projects in sectors such as transport, energy, and mining. During the Brasil Export event in Brasília, officials discussed using blended finance models to combine public and private resources. Available instruments include the Northeast Development Fund (FDNE) and the Northeast Constitutional Financing Fund (FNE) to modernize regional logistics and economic infrastructure.
