Northeast India Floods Reviewed by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who heads the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Development of the North‑East Region, met with the chief ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Manipur on 30 June to assess the flood situation caused by continuous heavy rain. He was briefed on rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations, noting that six districts in Assam and 12 of 28 districts in Arunachal Pradesh are under water. Authorities in Sikkim and Manipur remain on high alert, while Meghalaya has issued weather alerts and neighbouring states Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura are monitoring conditions. Scindia assured that the central government will provide all possible assistance and will coordinate closely with state governments to strengthen relief efforts and restore normalcy. The Ministry of Development of the North‑East Region said it is maintaining constant contact with state and central agencies and is ready to dispatch aid as needed.
