Northeastern Brazilian music featured at Rock in Rio 2026
Northeastern Brazilian musical genres received significant representation at the Rock in Rio 2026 festival through performances by Lucy Alves and Priscila Senna.
On Sunday, September 13, Lucy Alves performed at the Global Village stage. Her setlist focused on forró and regional classics, including works by Luiz Gonzaga such as ‘Baião’. The performance aimed to highlight female presence within a genre historically dominated by men and featured special guest Poetiza.
On Saturday, September 12, Priscila Senna performed at the Favela Stage, marking the first time the ‘brega nordestino’ genre has been included in the festival's lineup. Her show, titled ‘No Alto da Minha História’, utilized a large-scale production involving choreography, audiovisual elements, and new arrangements to celebrate her Pernambuco roots while maintaining the genre's essence.
