Northern Cyprus President Tatar Calls Island Strategic Asset for Turkey

President Ersin Tatar addressed the KKTC Investment and Trade Opportunities Consultation meeting, emphasizing that Northern Cyprus is vital for Turkey's security and future. He highlighted the island’s land, maritime zones, continental shelf, and economic rights, describing them as part of Turkey’s “four‑vatan” concept – main, child, blue, and sky homeland. Tatar noted that the island’s strategic value extends beyond its 3,800 km² territory to include exclusive economic zones, continental shelf, and broader geopolitical significance. He also referenced Turkey’s support for recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the importance of expanding trade, tourism, education and agriculture ties.

The remarks were made in the presence of business leaders from the MÜSİAD Gaziantep branch, who discussed investment potential and cooperation between Turkey and Northern Cyprus.
