Northern Taiwan experiences cooling and rain due to northeast monsoon
Northern Taiwan is experiencing cooler temperatures and increased precipitation due to the influence of the northeast monsoon. The Central Weather Administration reports that moisture has increased, bringing localized short showers to areas north of Taoyuan, the eastern half of the island, and the Hengchun Peninsula. Yilan is specifically warned of the possibility of heavier localized rainfall through early morning.
Temperatures in northern Taiwan have dropped, with daytime highs ranging between 24°C and 26°C. While the monsoon is expected to weaken on the 29th and 30th, leading to warmer and drier conditions, a subsequent wave of the monsoon may arrive on Saturday, bringing more scattered rain to the north and east.
Strong northeast winds may cause gusts of level 8 or higher in several coastal areas, including Taitung and the Hengchun Peninsula, with wave heights reaching 2 to 3 meters. Additionally, high tides may cause seawater intrusion in low-lying areas of Yunlin, Kinmen, and Matsu.
