Northern Vietnam braces for heavy rain and heatwave June 14‑16

The Vietnam meteorological service predicts a heatwave across the northern region on June 14, with daytime temperatures reaching 36‑38 °C and localized peaks above 38 °C. From the evening of June 14 through June 16, the area will experience a widespread rain event, including heavy downpours of 80‑130 mm and isolated extreme totals above 120 mm. Forecasts warn of possible thunderstorms, strong gusts, hail, lightning and the risk of flash flooding and landslides in vulnerable low‑lying and hillside locales.

Similar conditions are expected in central and southern provinces, where temperatures will also climb above 35 °C and scattered rain showers will occur, but the most significant impacts are projected for the northern mid‑land and lowland districts.
