Northern Vietnam businesses call for regional connectivity to drive growth

At the Vietnam Private Sector Forum (VPSF) 2026 regional session for Northern Vietnam, business leaders and experts emphasized that regional connectivity is essential to achieving double-digit economic growth.

Participants noted a paradox where the region possesses significant growth drivers—such as the Red River Delta's industrial and financial hubs and the Northern Midlands and Mountains' raw materials and energy—yet these advantages are not yet effectively integrated into unified value chains, orders, or capital flows. Experts suggested shifting from investing in isolated public works to organizing infrastructure around commodity chains, specifically connecting economic corridors like Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh.

To reduce business costs, proposals included implementing a “one project - one focal point - one data - one progress” process and improving logistics through better coordination between raw material areas, processing, and distribution. The forum also addressed the need to enhance the ability of Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in global and FDI value chains.
