Norway allocates 112 million NOK to support kindergarten teacher training

The Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research has announced that a record number of kindergarten employees will receive state support to pursue teacher training while remaining in their jobs. A total of 112 million NOK is being distributed, providing approximately 60,000 NOK per participant.

The funds are intended to cover costs such as substitutes, travel, accommodation, or study materials. This initiative aims to address the significant demand for more qualified kindergarten teachers by strengthening work-based teacher education (ABLU) and other training programs.

According to the Ministry, 915 municipalities and private kindergartens applied for and received funding for a total of 1,904 participants. Education Minister Kari Nessa Nordtun stated that the measure is designed to allow those already working in the sector to combine employment with professional education.
