Norway business report: Mixed results across banking, tech, and retail sectors

Various Norwegian sectors report mixed economic performance for 2026. SpareBank 1 Sør-Norge reported a pre-tax profit of 2,082 million NOK in Q2, driven by loan growth and cost reductions. In the technology sector, NORBIT achieved record revenues of 831.6 million NOK, a 22 percent increase from the previous year, and announced a 2030 ambition to reach 6.0 billion NOK in turnover.

In the seafood industry, Fram Seafood reported an operating profit of 11.3 million NOK, an improvement from the previous year despite a challenging market. Conversely, the retail sector saw a significant downturn, with total investments falling by 8.4 percent in Q2, largely due to a 14 percent drop in spending on machinery and equipment, according to Statistics Norway (SSB).

Real estate trends show a divergence in the cabin market; while seaside cabin sales increased by 20.3 percent in the first half of 2026, the mountain cabin market has seen significantly lower activity and falling prices.
