Norway expands AI infrastructure through major data center investments

Norway is seeing significant investment in data center infrastructure and artificial intelligence capabilities. Tydal Data Center, owned by Bitdeer Technologies Group, has donated computing power valued at 100 million NOK to NTNU and Simula Research Laboratory to support AI research. This donation consists of 500,000 GPU hours for each institution.

Tydal Data Center recently secured a contract worth up to 76 billion NOK with Volta Infrastructure, which intends to lease approximately two-thirds of the center's computing power.

Simultaneously, Nscale is expanding its presence in Norway, confirming the opening of a new data center in Sauda and recruiting staff for operations. The company is also involved in a major investment project in Narvik valued at approximately 100 billion NOK. Nscale executives highlight Norway's access to renewable energy and favorable climate as key drivers for positioning the country as a major player in the AI and digital services industry.
