Norway AI infrastructure and data center expansion
Overview
Norway is experiencing significant growth in artificial intelligence infrastructure and data center investments. Initial developments included Bitdeer Technologies Group’s Tydal Data Center donating 500,000 GPU hours each to NTNU and Simula Research Laboratory to support AI research. Tydal also secured a contract worth up to 76 billion NOK with Volta Infrastructure.
Expansion efforts have continued through Nscale, which is developing data centers in Sauda, Glomsfjord, and Narvik. The Narvik project, estimated at approximately 100 billion NOK, is noted as the largest mainland investment in Norway to date. Additionally, Nscale, an Aker portfolio company, signed a $45 billion contract to provide AI computing capacity through its Monarch facility in the United States.
