Norway police deploy drones to search for missing Czech tourists

Norwegian police have deployed drones to search for three Czech tourists following a boating accident near the island of Averøya. A rental fishing boat carrying four Czech nationals disappeared last Friday, and the vessel was later discovered significantly damaged.

Authorities have recovered the body of one Czech national. Local media reports suggest it is probable that the remaining three tourists did not survive the incident. Search efforts are currently concentrated along the western coast of Smøla island, approximately 30 kilometers from where the boat and the first victim were located.

Search group leader Andreas Moseng Jakobsen described the area as extremely difficult for search operations. It remains unclear if the tourists were wearing life jackets, as they were reportedly using their own equipment rather than the rental gear. In response to recent fatalities involving foreign fishing tourists, local authorities are considering stricter regulations for recreational boat rentals, including the potential requirement for tracking devices.
