Norway road closures: Hemsedalsfjellet and Lærdalstunnelen

Major road closures are scheduled for key transport routes in Norway. From October 21 to December 17, National Road 52 over Hemsedalsfjellet will face closures of up to 13.5 hours per day. These restrictions are due to blasting work at Storeskar, conducted by Isachsen Anlegg AS on behalf of Statens vegvesen, to improve safety and traffic flow by removing rock mass from narrow sections.

Closures will occur at fixed times from Monday to Saturday: 09:00–11:00, 14:30–16:00, and 20:00–06:00. The road will remain open all day on Sundays. As there are no local detours, travelers between Eastern and Western Norway are advised to use National Road 7 via Hardangervidda or E16 via Filefjell.

Additionally, significant night closures are expected at the Lærdalstunnelen on the E16 starting November 16 for upgrades to the 24.5-kilometer tunnel.
