Norway Highway 52 maintenance closures
Overview
Major roadwork on Highway 52 (Rv 52) at Hemsedalsfjellet will cause significant disruptions for travelers between Eastern and Western Norway. From October 21 until December 17, the mountain pass will be partially closed six days a week to facilitate blasting and improvements to steep rock cuttings at Storeskar.
Statens vegvesen has scheduled closures at specific times: 09:00 to 11:00, 14:30 to 16:00, and 20:00 to 06:00. During peak times, the road may be closed for up to 13.5 hours per day, though the road will remain open all day on Sundays. Emergency services and VY Bus are permitted to pass as needed.
Because there are no local detours at Storeskar, motorists are advised to use alternative routes via Rv 7 Hardangervidda or E16 Filefjell. The work, conducted by Isachsen Anlegg AS, is intended to improve safety and traffic flow by removing rock mass from narrow sections.
