Norway sees surge in AI chatbot usage

Usage of AI chatbots in Norway has increased significantly, with 69 percent of the population using the technology in the last three months, up from 54 percent last year. According to data from Statistics Norway (SSB), adoption is particularly high among young people aged 16–24, where 90 percent report using AI.

Digitalization Minister Torgeir Micaelsen stated that while the increase is positive for productivity and value creation, political regulations are necessary to address growing public fears regarding AI. These concerns follow warnings from industry leaders and researchers, including figures from Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceX, regarding the rapid pace of development and potential risks associated with the technology.
