Norway detains 16-year-old for suspected terrorist plot against kindergarten

A 16-year-old boy from the Vestfold region in Norway has been detained on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. The teenager was arrested in early June after authorities received information from an anonymous individual abroad regarding concerning social media activity.

According to reports and court documents, the suspect allegedly planned to attack a specific kindergarten using axes and knives. Investigators found a manifest-like description of the attack, as well as weapons and extremist materials in his home. The suspect is also reported to have expressed support for Adolf Hitler, Vidkun Quisling, and Anders Behring Breivik in written statements.

Prosecutor Lise Dalhaug stated that while the specific targets are being investigated, the individual appears to have acted alone. A forensic psychiatric evaluation noted that the teenager has shown little regret or shame regarding the planned actions. The investigation is expected to conclude by the end of September, and the suspect faces significant prison time due to the severity of the charges.
