Norwegian police hand out dozens of fines for speeding and illegal roadside parking

Police in Norway carried out a speed check on county road 32 at Sandbrekkene in Siljan, issuing simplified fines to 16 drivers. A motorcyclist was charged and had his licence temporarily seized after being measured at 128 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, an offence that can carry a prison sentence. A 40‑year‑old car driver was clocked at 93 km/h, suspected of driving under the influence, and also faced a licence seizure and charge. In a separate incident, police removed a man who attempted to break the door of an ice‑cream kiosk in Porsgrunn.

On the E16 motorway near Gardermoen, around 20 motorists were fined for stopping on the hard shoulder. Police warned that such behaviour endangers both the stopped drivers and fast‑moving traffic, and highlighted new markings and organized parking at the nearby rest area to discourage illegal roadside parking.
