Notting Hill Carnival celebrates 60th anniversary in London

The Notting Hill Carnival is celebrating its 60th anniversary in West London, an event expected to attract up to two million visitors. The celebration marks a significant milestone for Europe’s largest street festival.

In conjunction with the festivities, photographers Wayne Campbell and Wayne Crichlow have released a collaborative photo book titled ‘Carnival of Resistance’. The work utilizes photography as a form of visual activism to document the history, migration, and cultural resistance of the Caribbean community underlying the festival's spectacle.

Ahead of the bank holiday weekend, the London Ambulance Service (LAS) has issued a call for responsible drinking. The agency noted a sharp rise in alcohol-related emergencies during the previous August bank holiday, including a 73 percent increase in incidents on the Monday compared to the prior week. Officials are urging attendees to stay hydrated and look after one another to ensure emergency crews remain available for those in critical need.
