Nový Jičín to host Václav Havel memorial events

Nový Jičín will host a two-day program titled ‘Havel 90’ on October 2 and 3 to commemorate the legacy of Václav Havel. The event features a photography exhibition titled ‘Václav Havel známý neznámý’ using archives from the Václav Havel Library, alongside a discussion with Anna Freimanová regarding her personal experiences with the former president.

The program includes a concert by the poet and musician Cermague, a debate on public affairs and civic engagement involving local politicians, and a screening of the 2024 documentary ‘Demokracie noir’ by Connie Field. The documentary examines the challenges to democratic institutions in Hungary through the perspectives of a journalist, a politician, and an activist.
