Nova Iguaçu celebrates International Youth Day with legislative session

International Youth Day, established by the United Nations in 1999, was marked by discussions regarding the diverse experiences of young people and their role in social development. While the UN defines youth as those aged 15 to 24, Brazilian law via the Youth Statute extends this definition to those between 15 and 29 years old.

In Nova Iguaçu, Brazil, the City Council held a solemn session to commemorate the date. Organized by Councilman Danielzinho da Padaria in partnership with the Nova Iguaçu Youth Coordination, the event brought together authorities and young citizens to discuss education, employment, culture, sports, and political participation. The session aimed to promote dialogue between the legislature and younger generations to foster more just and democratic social construction.
