Nova Iguaçu delivers 900 homes under Minha Casa, Minha Vida program

On 3 July 2026 the municipality of Nova Iguaçu handed over 900 new apartments in the Villa Provance residential complex. The units are part of the federal "Minha Casa, Minha Vida" housing scheme and are located in the Sergipe, Piauí and Rio Grande do Norte condom‑ments; the larger complex also includes the already‑delivered Paraíba and Pernambuco blocks, bringing the total to 1 500 units.

The city’s mayor Dudu Reina, the federal Minister of Cities Antônio Vladmir Moura Lima, and a live broadcast from the Palácio do Planalto marked the ceremony. Under a municipal law, 5 % of the homes (39 units) are reserved for women victims of domestic violence, and 3 % are adapted for people with disabilities. Four women from Iguaçu received their keys via the president’s live transmission.

Beneficiaries highlighted the social impact, with one saying, “Breaking this cycle and rebuilding my life feels like being reborn,” and another noting the importance of legal and psychological support. The delivery is presented as a milestone for housing policy and social inclusion in Brazil.
