Nova Iguaçu expands Pneumo 20 vaccine sites for children

From Monday 6 July 2026 the 20‑valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (Pneumo 20) will be offered at eleven primary‑care units in Nova Iguaçu for children under five. Five of those units will operate extended hours, Monday‑Friday, 08:00‑22:00. The vaccine protects against 20 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae, which can cause severe illnesses such as pneumonia and meningitis.

The recommended schedule is a first dose at two months of age, a second dose of Pneumo 10 at four months, and a booster dose of Pneumo 20 at twelve months. Parents must bring the child’s vaccination card, an identity document or CPF, and be accompanied by a responsible adult. The rollout includes the Centro de Saúde Vasco Barcelos, Clínica da Família Elaine Ambrósio, Clínica da Família Jardim Paraíso, Policlínica de Vila de Cava, Policlínica de Miguel Couto, Policlínica do Shopping Nova Iguaçu, Policlínica Santa Rita, among others.
