Nova Iguaçu hospitals receive national Patient Safety Seal

Two major hospitals in Nova Iguaçu, Brazil, have received the 2026 Patient Safety Seal, an award granted by Epimed Solutions in partnership with the Brazilian Institute for Patient Safety (IBSP).

Hospital Geral de Nova Iguaçu (HGNI) earned the certification for the second consecutive year, while Hospital Iguassú Maternidade Mariana Bulhões received the recognition for the first time. These two facilities were the only public network hospitals in the Baixada Fluminense region to be honored.

The seal recognizes institutions that demonstrate excellence in incident management and a commitment to patient safety. To qualify, hospitals must show consistent performance in notifying, classifying, investigating, and treating adverse events. Criteria include the speed of early detection and the average time taken to investigate incidents.
