Nova Iguaçu hosts animal welfare awareness and reforestation events

The municipality of Nova Iguaçu has launched two distinct community initiatives focused on health awareness and environmental preservation.

The Municipal Secretariat of Animal Defense and Protection organized an 'Outubro Rosa' (Pink October) awareness meeting for local animal protectors. The event featured lectures on breast cancer prevention in both women and pets. Veterinarian Igor Nogueira emphasized the role of spaying and neutering in reducing tumor risks in dogs and cats, while health professionals addressed the importance of female self-care for women dedicated to animal rescue.

Additionally, the Municipal Secretariat of the Environment, in coordination with the Voluntary Forest Brigade, is organizing a reforestation effort at Serra do Vulcão. The initiative aims to plant 200 native Atlantic Forest seedlings and provide educational activities regarding forest fire prevention and combat. The event is open to the public and seeks to mobilize the community to recover areas previously affected by fire.
