Nova Rodovias and Way Brasil launch unified electronic toll payment system

The road groups Nova Rodovias and Way Brasil have launched a unified initiative called ‘Interoperabilidade Federada’ to facilitate the payment of electronic toll debts. The system allows drivers to check pending balances across four participating concessions—Nova 381, Nova 364, Way 262, and Way 364—using only their vehicle license plate, with payments possible without prior registration.

This project operates alongside the Brazilian Ministry of Transport’s CNH do Brasil application and utilizes the ‘Free Flow’ model, which employs electronic charging to eliminate physical toll plazas and barriers. The initiative aims to reach up to 3 million vehicles, as 16 additional road companies have expressed formal interest in joining the system. Moisés Sathler, Technology Executive at Nova Rodovias, stated that the model ensures each concessionaire maintains control over its own data while allowing only the license plate to transit between different economic groups.
