Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal advances to regional and national stages
The national initiative ‘Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal’ is progressing through its regional stages to promote and value Portuguese heritage. In the Central Region, the regional final will be held in Anadia at the Parque das Termas da Curia on August 15. This event aims to select seven heritage sites to represent the region in the national semi-finals. Among the finalists in the 20th Century category is the Palace Hotel da Curia, which is competing alongside the Museu Arte Nova de Aveiro.
In the Northern Region, the architectural complex ‘Moderno Escondido’ in Picote, located in the municipality of Miranda do Douro, has advanced to the national semi-finals in the 20th Century category. Designed by architects João Archer, Nunes de Almeida, and Rogério Ramos, the site includes the Picote Dam and is recognized for its integration of architecture, engineering, and landscape. National semi-final voting is scheduled for August 29.
