Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal semi-finals to feature regional heritage sites

The national semi-finals of the ‘Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal’ competition will take place this Saturday, September 5, broadcast live on TVI from the National Palace of Sintra. The event features 49 national semi-finalists competing across seven categories to secure a spot in the grand final.

From the Central region, the Palace Hotel da Curia advances in the ‘20th Century’ category. Other regional winners moving to the semi-finals include Castelo de Leiria, Aqueduto da Usseira, Centum Cellas, Convento de Cristo, Museu do Azeite, and Jardim do Paço Episcopal.

The Madeira region is represented by seven heritage sites across various categories: Forte de Nossa Senhora do Amparo (Castles), Teleférico da Rocha do Navio (Great Works), Casas de Colmo (History), Igreja Matriz de São Jorge (Religion), Mercado dos Lavradores (20th Century), Casa das Mudas (21st Century), and Jardim Monte Palace Madeira (Tourism).

Public voting during the semi-final broadcasts will determine the 21 national finalists. The grand final, where the new ‘7 Wonders of Portugal’ will be announced, is scheduled for September 12.
